THE MUDCRAB CODE™

Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to The Mudcrab Code™.

These Terms of Use apply when you purchase, access or participate in The Mudcrab Code™.

By purchasing the course and creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

1. About The Mudcrab Code™

The Mudcrab Code™ is an Australian online educational course featuring the experience, techniques and knowledge of professional Queensland mud crabber Greg Sichter.

The course provides practical education about mud crabbing, including trip planning, tides, weather, equipment, bait, pot placement, handling, boating and trailer preparation, safety, sustainability, storage, cleaning and cooking.

The information shared throughout the course is based largely on Greg's practical experience developed over almost 50 years of commercial mud crabbing.

2. Educational Information

The Mudcrab Code™ is provided for general educational and informational purposes.

Fishing, boating and activities around waterways involve inherent risks. Conditions can change quickly and techniques that are appropriate in one location or set of conditions may not be appropriate in another.

You remain responsible for assessing your own circumstances, experience, equipment and environmental conditions before undertaking any activity demonstrated or discussed in the course.

3. Fishing Laws & Regulations

Fishing laws and regulations vary between Australian states and territories and can change.

While we make reasonable efforts to provide accurate information and links to official government resources, it is your responsibility to check the current fishing regulations that apply to the location where you are fishing before you go crabbing.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Where information contained within The Mudcrab Code™ differs from current legislation or official government regulations, the current official regulations take precedence.

4. Safety & Personal Responsibility

Mud crabbing may involve boats, trailers, waterways, tides, mudflats, mangroves, wildlife, live crabs, sharp equipment, slippery surfaces and changing weather conditions.

You are responsible for your own safety and for determining whether you have the appropriate skills, experience and equipment to safely undertake an activity.

Always follow applicable boating, fishing and safety requirements.

Never place yourself or another person at unnecessary risk simply to follow a technique demonstrated in the course.

Where you are uncertain about the safe operation of a boat, trailer, motor or other equipment, seek appropriate professional advice or training.

5. Animal Welfare

Students are responsible for complying with applicable animal-welfare requirements when handling, keeping, transporting, preparing and dispatching live crustaceans.

Where The Mudcrab Code™ provides links to organisations such as the RSPCA or other external resources, students should refer to the most current guidance available before acting.

6. No Guarantee of Results

There is no single formula that guarantees you'll catch mud crabs.

Every creek, season, tide and fishing trip is different.

The Mudcrab Code™ provides techniques and principles designed to improve your knowledge and understanding of mud crabbing, but we cannot guarantee any particular catch or fishing result.

Results depend on many factors outside our control, including location, weather, tides, seasons, fishing pressure, equipment and crab movement.
